Result 1: Critical Incident Reader and Online-Tool

The reader is a collection of real life experiences of intercultural conflict by international students which have been gathered and analysed using the action-research and case-analysis method of critical incidents by Cohen-Emerique (2015). The Reader is meant to be a compendium for students, HE staff and members of the public interested in intercultural learning, portraying real cases of personal experiences of intercultural conflict.
The Reader’s aim is to support students, HE staff and members of the public to analyse the concrete cases and situations which come up in multicultural settings in HE.

Result 2: Reader on sensitive zones of intercultural encounters in HE

The reader provides background knowledge and theoretical framing to the concrete cases of intercultural conflict presented in the collection of critical incidents. Thereby it provides readers unfamiliar with research on interculturality with knowledge on typical areas of conflict and information as to why tensions are high around these specific sensitive zones in intercultural encounters in Higher Education.
The Reader is combined with IO1.

Result 3: Exercise Toolkit for Diversity and Internationalization (Training material)

The exercise toolkit offers exercises in six modules on diversity and internationalization that may be used in diversity trainings and for preparing international students when they go abroad or come back to their home university after an academic stay abroad. All 27 exercises (reflective tools, action tools, and research tools) contribute to strengthening intercultural skills of students. The toolkit serves as a flexible pool of exercises which can be used for different student groups and be adapted to different group needs.

Additionaly, in the scope of IO3 Społeczna Akademia Nauk, conducted empirical study aimed to investigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the intercultural conflicts in the University of Social Sciences’ academic environment in Warsaw. One of the study’s additional utilitarian aims was developing the catalogue of the accepted by students’ solutions aimed at cross-cultural integration and avoidance as well as resolving intercultural conflicts.

Result 4: Toolkit on intercultural student encounters

All partners collected existing formats for intercultural student encounters, which were analysed according to strengths and weaknesses, leading up to the development of a toolkit which can be easily used by HEIs across Europe. HEIs will then have a pool of formats at their disposal to use when developing student services. Thereby barriers for implementing “internationalisation-at-home” will be reduced and HEIs’ scope of action will be enhanced.
